[Editorial Liner] The Social Media

The social media has a great impact to the human society. Not only did it change the way people communicate and share information, but also it is slowly fixing our perceptions and making us follow trends blindly.

Is Social Networking Making Your Life Really Social?

Social Networking, with its constantly changing platform, has become popular during the past few years. Networking sites such as facebook and twitter serve the basic purpose of bringing families and friends together and may also further expand to connecting with people around the world.  Yet, many people may have misused this medium of communication. Are we really using this for social interacting?

Social Networking undoubtedly has its advantages, but it has its own bad features. Millions of people around the world are engrossed to these networking mediums thus spending more time on social networking sites than doing actual productive things.  By divulging in virtual interaction, people are starting to interact less when it comes to face-to-face communication. Ironically, instead of talking to the people around, people browse for social networking sites in their devices for “social interaction”. These very networks are ruining interpersonal relationships between people. However, social networking also contains a lot of potential and benefits. Social Networking focuses on building social relations among people who share similar interests, activities, or real-life connections. These social networking sites allow users to share their ideas and activities within individual networks.

There are many ways in which social networking may have changed our lives for the better or for the worst.  The core problem is just how people use these medium of communications. It is up to the person using these social networking sites if they will be taken away by the trend and lose touch with reality or be creative in using these platforms. Therefore, is social networking making your life really social?
